Romblon’s marble comes in various color, from white to black and in-between tints like mottled white, tiger white, onyx and jade. It dawned on me one day, why not create a blog about marble? So I did!
Marble, with its diverse textures, design and color, is one of the best building materials. Revered by the ancient Greeks and Romans, it has been around for thousands of years.

Basically, marble comes from limestone. When limestone is subjected to heat and pressure, the calcium carbonate re-crystallizes into marble.

Marble can be used for a lot of things:

statues and shrines

flooring for homes, churches and other establishments

counter tops

foyers

fireplaces

bars

showers/sink/bathroom

vases

windows and many more

There are several types of marble, among which are the following:

Carrara – this marble usually is white or has a grayish-blue hue. It got its name from a place in Italy called Carrara where it is quarried

Breccias – also called Breccia Oniciata or Breche Nouvelle with its distinctively broken look

Cultured/Artificial marble – this is the result when marble dust is combined with cement

Green Marble – this marble looks similar to a real marble but actually, it’s not a real marble but serpentinites

There are other types of marble which are named after the place where they can be found such as the Tennessee marble with its pale pink to cedar-red color, the purple Phrygian marble which are mined in Phrygia, Turkey and the white Makrana marble which can be found in Makrana, India.

Whatever color they come and wherever they come from, marble is truly a symbol of class and elegance.
<div
